About the speakers:

Short Presentation Speaker: Dr. Maryam Nabiyouni

Presentation Title:

"Avantect: An Early Detection of Pancreatic Cancer Test”

Presentation Summary:

Pancreatic cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer mortality and predicted to be the second-leading cause by 2030. Pancreatic cancer has a 5-year survival rate after diagnosis of only 11.5%. Most pancreatic cancer cases are diagnosed after the disease has spread and the treatment options are limited and largely ineffective. Early detection of the disease holds the promise of enabling early interventions, leading to improved patient survival. The Avantect Pancreatic Cancer Test is a non-invasive, cell-free DNA-based blood test that detects pancreatic cancer at an early stage with the potential to improve both short- and long-term patient outcomes.

Maryam Nabiyouni is a lead automation scientist at ClearNote Health, Inc. She completed her PhD in Bioengineering in 2014 from University of Toledo in Ohio. Since then, she has been working as a scientist in the bio-tech industry. Professionally, her focus has been development of genetic tests and, for the last three years, she has been involved in developing of tests to detect cancer in early stages. Maryam served as a board member of the Association of Iranian American Professionals of San Diego for 3 years and helped organizing many community events in San Diego.

"Emotional manipulation is a tactic used by individuals to gain control over others

by exploiting their emotions. This can occur in personal relationships, at work, and
